Small-scale
Circular Green Biorefineries
for increasing farmer sustainability and competitiveness and building resilient rural areas.
The Project
From grasslands to green bio-based products — forging a robust farm-centred bioeconomy in Europe.
- Demonstrate an improved green biorefinery model that empowers farmers and enhances economic returns across Europe's rural regions.
- Develop small-scale, decentralized green biorefineries to convert locally sourced biomass into valuable products such as human-grade protein, bio-based packaging and clean energy.
- Support farmers on their journey towards a sustainable and resilient rural bioeconomy, where innovation meets tradition.

Our mission
Our mission is to showcase the first small-scale decentralized green biorefinery model and facilitate its widespread adoption to enhance local resilience, sustainability and economic prospects throughout Europe's rural grassland areas.
By bringing together farmers, industries, scientists and researchers from across Europe, we aim to demonstrate how a farmer-centric bioeconomy can optimize grasslands and alternative green biomass feedstocks.

Our expected impacts
Farmers
at the centre of the value creation process for sustainable grassland management.
Efficient implementation
of small-scale biorefineries by adopting the latest production technologies, products and systems.
Promotion of circularity
across the entire bioeconomy value chain.
Creation of new jobs
and revenue opportunities for the primary production sector in rural areas.
Environmental benefits
such as reduction in land use, improved resource efficiency and the promotion of sustainable farming practices.
Our Tools to boost the EU Bioeconomy
Through our efforts, we will provide a number of innovative technologies and solutions that will support the development of a highly optimised, decentralised and replicable model of green biorefineries across Europe including high-tech toolkits and ICT monitoring applications to analyse the environmental and socio-economic impacts of our work, among others.
